7 Ways for Boys to Join Pak Army as 2nd Lieutenant or Captain

There are plenty of ways through which boys can join the Pakistan army. The boys can join the Pak army as Second Lieutenant, Captain and Major. The following post will tell you about the scope of various educations in different Corps of the Pakistan army.

1. Boys Join Pak Army as 2nd Lieutenant

There are three ways through which the boys can become 2nd Lieutenant commissioned officer and make your career in the Pakistan army after 12th class, 14th class, and 16th class.

1.1. Join Pak Army as 2nd Lieutenant after Intermediate through Long Course

The boys who have completed Intermediate in F.Sc pre engineering/F.A/ICS or A level or some other equivalent degree can get Regular Commission in Pak army through PMA Long Course. This course is announced twice in a year; after every six months, once in the March/April and the other in the October.

You will be Cadet for 2 years in PMA Kakul and after passing out, you will serve as Second Lieutenant in one of the Combat Corps or Supporting Corps.

These army officers,when they become captain, also command the Pakistan rangers in Punjab and Sindh and Pakistan Frontier Corps (FC) in Baluchistan and KPK.

The position of ADC or protocol officer is also given to the army officers.

The registration for 143 PMA Long Course is started in October 2018. Apply on the official website for 143 Long Course.

1.2. Jobs as 2nd Lieutenant after Graduation (14-Year Education) through Long Course & Graduate Course

There are 2 methods for boys to join army as second lieutenant through 14-year qualification in the following ways. One is through long course and the other is through graduate course.

1.2.1. Through Long Course

The boys with 14-year education as BA or B.Sc can take Regular Commission in Pak army through PMA Long Course. You will undergo 2 years of training at Kakul academy if you join army through PMA Long Course.

Remember, you can apply for Long course with 14-year education upto the age limit of 23 years.

1.2.2. Through Graduate Course

The recruitment of boys with 14-year bachelors education as BA or B.Sc is conducted by the army through PMA Graduate Course and the boys can take Regular Commission.

If you join army through PMA Graduate Course, then in this case the training period at PMA Kakul will be 1 year. You will pass out as Second Lieutenant from this course.

Remember, you can apply for Graduate course with 14-year education upto the age of 25 years.

For 2019, the registration for PMA Graduate Course will be in June/July.

1.3. Recruitment as 2nd Lieutenant after Graduation (16-Year or More than 16-Year Education)

The 16-year qualification provides the boys to join Pak army in the following 2 ways.

1.3.1. Long Course

The boys with 16-year bachelors education as BA (Hons) or BS (Hons) or BBA (Hons) or BPA (Hons) can also gain Regular Commission in Pak army through PMA Long Course.

You will undergo 2 years of training at Kakul academy if you join army through PMA Long Course.

Remember, you can apply for Long course with 16-year education upto the age limit of 24 years.

1.3.2. Graduate Course

The boys with 16-year education can also apply for PMA Graduate Course.

If you join army through PMA Graduate Course, then in this case the training period at PMA Kakul will be 1 year. You will pass out as Second Lieutenant.

Remember, you can apply for Graduate course with 16-year education upto the age of 25 years.

For 2019, the registration for PMA Graduate Course will be in June/July.

2. Join Pak Army for Boys after Intermediate as Captain through Technical Cadet Course (TCC)

You can also become commissioned officer through 12-year education after F.Sc pre engineering/ICS/A level as Captain as explained below.

Those boys who do not want to join PMA Long Course because of the hard physical training but they have the passion for joining this sacred institute. They can also take the Regular Commission in Pakistan army after F.Sc pre engineering/ICS/A-level/ and make their career as captain engineer through Technical Cadet Course or TCC by joining 4 different colleges at free of cost.

All these 4 colleges work under National University of Science and Technology, NUST. You will study as Cadet throughout your 4-year of engineering in the college. Then, you will undergo 1 year of military training as Cadet in PMA Kakul. After passing out, you will start to serve as Captain. These 4 colleges are given in the following points.

2.1.

The boys who are keen to study Civil Engineering will join Military College of Engineering after the selection process. The civil engineers make infrastructures like buildings, bridges etc.
After passing out, you will start to serve as Captain engineer in Corps of Engineers.

2.2.

Those who want to become Aeronautical Engineers go in College of Aeronautical Engineering after the successful selection procedure. The aeronautical engineering deals with the manufacturing of helicopters and jets.
After passing out, you will start to serve as Captain in Corps of EME Aviation.

2.3.

 Telecommunication engineering and Software Engineering are provided by Military College of Signals. The Telecommunication engineers work on building communication devices and instruments that help the soldiers to keep good communication between them in different areas during the war time.

After passing out you will start to serve as Captain in Corps of Signals.

2.4.

 Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering and Mechatronics Engineering are provided by College of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering.
After passing out you will start to serve as Captain engineer in Corps of EME or Corps of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering.

Note 1

Remember one more thing; your education, hostel residence etc will be totally free if you join above 4 colleges through Pakistan army. You will also get a scholarship of 25000 PKR per month from college. There is a period of 4 years at these above-mentioned colleges.

These four years include study and morning drill. The students wear the khaki uniform and are called Cadets.

Note 2

There is another way of joining above 4 colleges as civilians but in this case, you have to pay all the fees to college and you will not be Cadet(will not wear the khaki uniform).

3. Join Pak Army after Pre Medical as Captain through Medical Cadet Course

The F.Sc Pre-medical or A level boys can also acquire Regular Commission in the Pakistan army through Medical Cadet Course. The complete details about this course can be found here in point 1.

There is another course for boys through which they can get admission in the Army Medical College and Army administered medical college. This course is named as NUMS entry test.

But remember if you go through NUMS test, you will not serve or get a job in Army Medical Corps like that of Medical Cadet Course boys. Through NUMS entry test, only army brat boys will serve in the army and other civilians boys will not serve in the army. The details can be found here in point 2.

4. DAE Degree/Diploma Holders as Second Lieutenant 

The boys who have done 3-year diploma in associated engineering (DAE) can also make their way to the Pak army through PMA Long Course.

5. Become Captain Doctor During MBBS/BDS

For male doctors, who are still studying and are in the last year of their MBBS and BDS. Please read the following paragraph.

Pakistan army announces every year a specific Short Service Regular Commission or SSRC course with the name of M Cadet Course. This course is especially for those boys who are in the final year of MBBS or BDS. If you join this course, you will become captain after a successful 6 month training at PMA.

6. Become Captain & Major Doctor After MBBS/BDS

6.1. Recruitment in Army after completing MBBS & BDS (Dentist Degree)

This type of commission comes under Short Service Regular Commission (SSRC). This commission is for those men who are done with their MBBS and BDS (dentist degree) and want to join the army as General Duty Medical Officer, GDMO, and General Duty Dental Officer (GDDO). These will get captain rank after the successful military training.

6.2. Apply in Army as Pakistan Temporary Commission Officers (As Captain)

This type of commission does not come under Short Service Regular Commission.
It is another type of commission which is called Pakistan Temporary Commission (PTC) for boys in the Army Medical Corps. This has the same requirements as the above SSRC course.

These officers also pass out as Captain after 12 weeks of  basic military training at AMC Center Abbottabad but their bond period is 2 years with the army.

7. Jobs for Men in Pak Army as Captain after Graduation (16-Year or More than 16-Year Education)

The Integrated Course help the boys, who have completed 16-year education, in getting the Short Service Commission (SSC) or Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) in the Pakistan army. These boys serve in different Corps after passing out through Integrated Course. These Corps are given in the following points.

Remember, you can apply for SSC/DSSC upto the age of 28 years and the vacancies are announced normally once in a year.

7.1. Those boys who have done 16-year education as BE in Telecom Engineering, BE in Software Engineering, BS (Hons) or Masters in IT, BS (Hons) or Masters in Information Security and BS (Hons) or Master in Geographical Information System can also become the part of Pakistan army.

After selection, there will be 6 months training at PMA Kakul and you will be Cadet during these six months. On successful training, you will be awarded the rank of Captain and you will serve in Corps of Signals as ICTOs.

7.2. The boys who have completed engineering in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Metallurgical, Avionics, Aerospace, Bio Medical and Computer engineering can join Corps of EME.

7.3. The civil engineering boys can join Corps of Engineers. 

7.4. The boys with 16-year education as BS (Hons) in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy Engineering, Plastic or wood technology, and Textile or leather technology can also join as captain engineer army.

After selection, there will be 6 months training at Pakistan military academy Kakul and you will be Cadet during these six months. On successful training, you will be granted the rank of Captain and you will serve in Corps of Ordnance.

7.5. The boys with M.A/M.Sc /M.Phil/Ph.D. in psychology degree and if someone has psychology degree along with diploma in clinical psychology can also become commission officer in the Pakistan army.

After selection, there will be 6 months training at PMA Kakul. On successful training, you will be given the rank of Captain and you will serve as psychologists to judge the candidates during the ISSB interview.

7.6. The 16-year education in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany/Zoology), Computer Science, English, Management Science (BBA Hons/MBA or higher), Geography, Economics, Political Science, History, Urdu, Pakistan Studies, Islamic Studies, National and International Affairs (NIA), International Relations (IR) help the boys to join Pak Army Education Corps.

On successful 6 month training as Cadet at PMA Kakul, you will be granted the rank of Captain.

7.7. The boys with DVM degree or equivalent degree to DVM or M.Phil in DVM can join Remount Veterinary and Farms Corps. On successful 6 month training as Cadet at PMA Kakul, you will be awarded the rank of Captain.
