General Qamar Javaid Bajwa has been appointed as the new
Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan Army. He will take Chief of army staff baton from Raheel Sharif on 29 November during change of guard ceremony.
He commanded the 16 baloch regiment as Lieutenant Colonel in which he was once commissioned as 2nd lieutenant. He also served as General Staff Officer at X Corps during the rank of lieutenant colonel.
PMA Training
General Qamar Javaid Bajwa stared its military training in PMA Kakul in November 1978. He passed out as Second Lieutenant in 24 October, 1980 from 62 PMA Long Course and was commissioned in 16 Baloch Regiment.Achievements

Bajwa is currently serving as the Inspector General Training and Evaluation. He served on this post from 2015 to 2016. He will take the post of
COAS on 29 Nov, 2016.
Lt. Gen Bajwa has commanded X Corps, from 2013 to 2015, which is considered as
the biggest and the most important Corps. The entire defence installations including GHQ, AHQ [air headquarters] and NHQ [naval headquarters], PM Secretariat and government security are also under the responsibility of a Commander of X Corps.
As Major General
He also commanded a division named as Force Commander Of Northern Areas (FCNA) as General Office Commanding.
As Brigadier
He was as Brigadier while commanding a peace mission in Congo. As a brigadier, he also held a position of COS [chief of staff] at X Corps.
As Lieutenant Colonel
As Major
He was appointed as the brigade major of an infantry brigade during the rank of Major.
Belonging to Baloch regiment, his vast experience is in Kashmir and northern areas issues.
Since the military remains heavily engaged in counter-terrorism operations and with the situation on the border with India remaining tense a candidate with a strong profile in dealing with such matters would be the best choice.
